Andrew Kitchin
Andrew is a Barrister and has been practicing in Brisbane since 1997. Prior to this Andrew worked in a number of law firms.
Andrew has a wide-ranging legal practice – opinion work and advocacy – with an emphasis on personal injuries and insurance law. He has extensive experience acting for those who have suffered sexual and psychological abuse and acting for Church Authorities in responding to abuse complaints.
He has acted for and interviewed many who have suffered severe trauma in the abuse context and also those suffering psychological injury from other sources such as bullying in the workplace, motor vehicle accidents etc.
For many years Andrew has investigated and assessed complaints against a wide variety of Church Authorities and other entities requiring in-depth planning, interviewing of survivors, witnesses and accused, and detailed reasoning, fact finding and report writing, often in matters with allegations spanning back many decades.
Andrew has also provided advice to church bodies on procedural fairness aspects of investigations and as to whether findings of previous investigations were reasonably open.
